Corporate MembershipBuilding business for the DalesCompanies who are interested to see the social and economic development of the Dales work hand in hand with sympathetic environmental conservation and preservation, are invited to join the Yorkshire Dales Society as corporate members in order to have a voice and make a difference. The landscape of the Dales and the conservation of the natural environment and wildlife habitats depend crucially on the existence of a prosperous local community. Acting as an independent body, the Yorkshire Dales Society has actively campaigned to ensure the promotion and conservation of the Dales. Increasingly, both Governments and National Park Authorities have followed the Yorkshire Dales Society's lead, and now seek "to seek to foster the economic and social well-being of local communities" as a result. 
The Yorkshire Sales Society remains at the forefront of the most important work in this regard. Crucially, the Society understands that it is the small businesses of the Dales, whether they are involved in farming, tourism, transport, or new communication-based industries, which contribute massively to the well being of local communities, with tourism in particular acting as an economic generator to help kick-start enterprise in Dales villages and market towns. The Society has recognised that businesses can have, and are often interested to foster, a positive involvement in a variety of conservation matters, including the development and application of new technologies for pollution control, sustainable tourism, renewable energy and environmental management. The role of the YDS corporate membership program is to actively involve these Dales businesses in every aspect of the Society's work and to ensure that the Society fully promotes and reflects the activity of those businesses in its regular dealings with national and local Government, the National Park Authority and Nidderdale JAC. Corporate members enjoy all the usual benefits of the Yorkshire Dales Society membership in terms of access to a regular program of events including walks and lectures and a quarterly copy of the Dales Review magazine. More importantly corporate membership provides additional opportunities for involvement in activities arranged with key strategic partners and generates significant networking opportunities for working with like-minded businesses. The YDS publishes and distributes to all its members an annual Dales Business for Conservation leaflet listing all Corporate Members and detailing the services or facilities they offer. All YDS Members are encouraged to support these Dales Businesses for Conservation wherever possible and Corporate Members may use the leaflet as a marketing opportunity to promote particular offers to other members.
